Simplified Data Gathering

ESG Data Toolkit

Data Gathering Methodology

One of the toughest challenges we face when reporting on ESG is gathering all the data in a single place. This issue has been exacerbated further by systems that are priced per user or per site because the natural inclination for users would be to use other means (Like Microsoft Excel) to centralize and then capture data to avoid additional costs in terms of user fees. This leads to data transcription issues, a lack of accountability for data entered, and frustration for users and management alike. We have found that there is a lack of even the most basic data validation protocols – producing inaccurate data and incorrect reporting.

The ESG Data Toolkit has tried to respond to all the issues raised here with one overarching principle. "The most accurate data is always derived from as close to the source as possible". This translates to our various methodologies for data gathering:

Data Integration
Data Integration

Firstly, our strategy is to help our clients to utilize whatever data they currently have directly from the source. We have built powerful integration solutionsThe ESG Data Toolkit has been developed to integrate into multiple different systems and to allow other systems to interface with us using our secure REST API.

Automatic import of data from existing systems also alleviates double-capture work required by staff, and our system can either integrate directly with a number of systems, or we have a number of ways to allow upload to the system.

Data Capture

This is another place where our solution shines. Because it does not cost for to have unlimited users on the system, you can give ESG Data Toolkit access directly to the data champion who has the data for them to capture it. This allows you to track and monitor data accountability.

As a user captures data, it is compared to historic data and our reasonability validation will warn and require comments for every figure not within an expected normative range.
